Meet the Doula
My name is Margaret Marnell. After struggling to get pregnant we were diagnosed with unexplained infertility and referred to a reproductive endocrinologist. After many rounds of fertility treatments we finally had our daughter in 2020. By nature I am someone who likes to do careful research and I learned a great deal about the world of infertility. However, it remained a difficult and isolating experience.
After I opened up about our struggles, people from all parts of my life, friends, family, co-workers, random people who read my blog, started coming forward to tell me about their own struggles trying to start their family and how isolated they felt. I realized that no one should have to feel that way and decided to pioneer the idea of a fertility doula.
I trained with CAPPA as a labor doula and am also available for traditional labor doula services. I have a passion for birth justice work and trying to create a world where people can feel comfortable and supported throughout their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience. I believe that people should feel supported enough to be advocates during their birthing experience. No person should have to suffer during what should be an amazing time in their life.
